Save the Children South Africa seeks to appoint a child protection officer based in Musina, Limpopo.

Save the Children South Africa seeks to appoint a Child Protection Officer, based in Musina, Limpopo. The person will manage the coordination of child protection strategy in the Limpopo province; liaise with and support role players concerning matters in child protection; provide training and specialised guidance to role players; respond to cases of child abuse.

Responsibilities: Liaise with stakeholders in further development of protocols for the management of child abuse and neglect; Respond to all cases of child neglect and abuse; Collaborate with authorities and partners on the repatriation of children; Support family tracing and reunification; Support role players regarding international, national, provincial and local procedures relating to unaccompanied children and child protection.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in social work; Minimum of three years professional experience in child protection; Detailed knowledge of child protection legislation, policies and protocols including that in relation to non-national children; Experience in working with national, provincial and local child protection systems; Experience in conducting investigations of child neglect and abuse, writing of associated reports; Facilitation of workshops, training events and making presentations.
